A bifold door is a type of door which opens by folding back in sections or so-called panels. Folding doors are also known as ‘bi-fold doors’, in spite of them most often having more than two panels.
Folding doors can be used as internal or external room dividers and are made from a variety of materials. Most folding doors are glazed and the panels have frames of either wood, aluminium or upvc. They can open up and fold either internally or externally and are widely used in modern extensions.
Opposed to a conventional door with a standard aperture of 700-900 mm, most modern folding door (sets) can be up to several meters in width, and thereby considerably increase both physical and visual accessibility between either two internal rooms or an internal room and an outside space.
Karen Bi Folding Gates offer the client the opportunity to have an automated swing gate in an area that a standard gate would not fit. When the client has an incline rising upwards into the drive that a standard swing gate would bottom out on, the bi fold design only takes up a quarter of the space solving the problem.
The gates can be supplied in our standard bar infill design or other designs including ornate designs in metal or wood, we are happy to create a design specified by the client.

When space requires a gate to only fold to one side, we can install a solution that uses only two leaves that fold back out of the way in one direction giving maximum vehicular entry needed.
As the bi folding gate opens in twice the speed of a conventional swing gate between 3 to 7 seconds, it offers the client the affordability to swiftly enter their property when required.
Automation is available using surface mounted operators on the rear of the gate leaf or underground if required.
